The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what it described as a mix-up involving candidates in the Edo South Senatorial District.
The party raised the concern over the handling of its candidate’s details, alleging that the development could create confusion among voters and affect the credibility of the electoral process.
According to the NDC, INEC has a responsibility to ensure that the names, political parties and other details of candidates published for elections are accurate and consistent with information submitted by the parties.
The party urged the electoral commission to investigate the alleged discrepancy and correct any error capable of disenfranchising voters or misleading the electorate.
NDC also called on INEC to provide clear information on the affected candidate and ensure that all official election materials reflect the correct details.
The party stressed that accuracy in the publication of candidates’ information is essential to maintaining public confidence and ensuring a transparent electoral process.
It urged the commission to resolve the matter promptly ahead of the election and prevent any further confusion among voters in Edo South.
