Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, has called on the national chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Umar Damagum, to address the recent actions of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State.
Clark expressed concerns that Wike’s statements could incite a crisis in Rivers State.
In a recent comment, Wike hinted at enjoying the possibility of Governor Siminalayi Fubara making mistakes that could cause him problems.

In a letter, Clark reminded the leaders of the two major political parties of the potential consequences of unrest in Rivers State, emphasizing its significance to the national economy due to the presence of International Oil Companies (IOCs) and the Onne deep seaport.
Clark urged Ganduje and Damagum to curb Wike’s actions to prevent a dangerous crisis in one of Nigeria’s most critical states.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining stability in Rivers State for the country’s economic well-being.
“How can the federal government and the two main political parties allow an individual to disrupt and cause confusion, and harassment of the democratically elected governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on the guise that he alone and not the people of Rivers State made Fubara Governor, in his provocative and inciting statement?” Clark questioned.
He also referred to Wike’s boast that nobody could remove the member representing Ogu-Bolo Constituency, suggesting Wike’s actions could lead to a constitutional breach and a breakdown in law and order.
Clark’s letter underscores the urgency for political leaders to intervene and ensure peace and stability in Rivers State.
