Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has underscored the importance of bolstering local capacities to foster growth within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Speaking during a Courtesy Visit from top executives of ExxonMobil at the EFCC’s corporate headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Olukoyede emphasised the critical role of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria’s developmental aspirations.
Olukoyede highlighted the need for local capacities to be strengthened to fully harness the potential of the industry and align with national interests. He stressed the significance of technology transfer and the maximisation of the sector’s potential to benefit Nigerians at large.

“The industry in which you operate holds immense importance and directly impacts the lives of Nigerians. It is imperative to focus on developing local capacities, transferring technology, and ensuring transparency and accountability within the sector,” remarked Olukoyede.
In response, Adesua Dozie, the Vice-Chairman and General Counsel of ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria, commended Olukoyede on his appointment as EFCC Chairman. She expressed the company’s eagerness to collaborate with the EFCC and reiterated ExxonMobil’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations on your appointment. We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to collaborate with the EFCC and reaffirm our commitment to supporting and partnering with initiatives aimed at advancing the oil and gas sector in Nigeria,” stated Dozie.
Accompanying Dozie on the visit were Bala Wudiri, General Manager of Venture Relations, and Hashim Saidu, Manager of Business Relations, reflecting ExxonMobil’s commitment to fostering collaborative efforts with key stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
