French President Emmanuel Macron will meet the singer Rihanna this week to discuss France’s funding of international education after she approached him on Twitter.

The meeting between the famous pair will take place at the Elysée Palace in Paris – Mr Macron’s official residence – where the R&B star will ask the President to commit to funding opportunities for children in developing countries.

In June, she used Twitter – where she has 75.4 million followers – to address the new President directly, writing: “Bonjour @Emmanuel Macron, will France commit to #FundEducation?”
