In a ruling released on Friday, an appeals court in Lagos upheld Barr Peter Mbah’s election as governor of Enugu State.
Barr Chijioke Edeoga, a member of the Labour Party, LP, brought the case, which was heard by a three-person panel of the Appeal Court.
The court upheld the Enugu Tribunal decision from September 9, 2023, which had been presided over by the Hon. Justice K.M. Akano.

Mbah, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was successful in all three of his appeal’s claims.
The three-person panel chaired by Justice Tijani Yusuf Hassan ruled that Mbah was eligible to run for office despite allegations that he had falsified his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate.
The court also ruled that there was no evidence of overvoting in the Nkanu East Local Government Area.
