The Enugu State House of Assembly has unanimously passed the 2024 budget estimate, amounting to N521,561,386,000, into law.
This landmark decision marks a significant milestone for the state’s fiscal planning.
Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Anthony Nwankwo, presented the flawless report following the budget estimate’s scrutiny.

He urged the parliament to accept and enact it into law.
Members of the House lauded Governor Peter Mbah for leading a notable shift in budgeting, with a substantial focus on capital expenditure.
The budget allocates N414,334,120,000, representing over 79% of the total budget, to capital projects, signaling a commitment to infrastructural development.
In response to the passage of the bill, Speaker Hon. Uchenna Ugwu emphasized the House’s commitment to rigorous oversight to ensure the budget’s effective implementation in the interest of the masses.
He highlighted the budget’s emphasis on sectors like agriculture, education, and health, expressing confidence in its ability to drive prosperity in the state.
Governor Peter Mbah had presented the record-breaking budget estimate on December 5, with a pledge from the House of Assembly to expedite its consideration for the benefit of the state’s development.
The budget, titled “Budget of Disruptive Economic Growth,” aims to bolster the state’s economy and improve the welfare of its citizens.
