Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag must know that Christian Eriksen is a much better footballer than Sofyan Amrabat, Paul Scholes has said. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, Amrabat is mainly a stopper of attacks in the middle of the pitch, and MUFC needs players like Eriksen who can build up play for the team.
Scholes added that immediately Christian stepped on to the pitch vs Copenhagen, Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho were much more involved in the game.
His words, “It felt like we were watching a Europa League game in the first half. Like a Thursday night. Poor.
Second half was a lot better but you bring the better footballers on. You bring Christian Eriksen on, a much better footballer. No disrespect to Amrabat, he’s a stopper he’ll do his kind of thing. But he won’t build up play. Christian Eriksen will. You saw the runs being made, all of sudden [Bruno] Fernandes is in the game, [Alejandro] Garnacho too. Eriksen will find these players. For a 15-20 minute spell they looked like a proper team again.”
Christian is always positive. He brings football and we did not have the football in the first half – Copenhagen are well organised and you have to break them. Christian Eriksen makes the right passes.”

Sofyan Amrabat is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Premier League club Manchester United, on loan from Serie A club Fiorentina. Born in the Netherlands, he plays for the Morocco national team.
Amrabat joined Utrecht’s youth system in 2007 from HSV De Zuidvogels. He made his first-team debut for Utrecht against Vitesse on 2 November 2014.
Amrabat joined Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina on 1 September 2023, on a deadline day until the end of the 2023–24 season. Manchester United paid Fiorentina a loan fee of £8.5 million, with the deal containing an option to buy for £21.4 million.
Amrabat was born in Huizen in the Netherlands, to parents of Moroccan descent. He is the younger brother of former Morocco international Nordin Amrabat.
