Nigerian female rapper Eva Alordiah, 26, yesterday (Wednesday, May 11, 2016) announced that she will be releasing a book titled ‘11’.
The book which is a collection of semi-erotic stories is already available for pre-order. “You have no idea how so grand this is for me. I am finally doing the one thing I always always always wanted to Do as a Child. WRITE!” wrote Eva on her Instagram.
Upon its release Eva Alordiah will be the first Nigerian artiste to release a non-fiction book. That’s a historic achievement by a rapper who still hasn’t released her debut album.
We shouldn’t be surprised by Eva Alordiah diving into the world of fiction. Over a past few years she has been known to be tweeting short stories. This is just a natural progression for Eva who back in April announced that she should be regarded as a creative artist and not just a music artist.
Apart from releasing a book, Eva Alordiah is also launching her TV show. On Friday, May 6, 2016 she announced her TV show on her Instagram page. “I officially introduce you to my New TV show and Beauty Video series ‘111 Women Of Color’ 2016” the rapper wrote.
“It has always been my dream to teach every Nigerian woman the Beautiful Art of Makeup, as I believe every girl should be equipped with the proper skills and in depth knowledge of the arts,” she continued.
A music artiste releasing a book that is not an autobiography might sound weird in this country but overseas there are many actors and singers who are respected authors.
Jesse Eisenberg who played the role of Lex Luthor in ‘Batman Vs Superman’ released his first short story collection ‘Bream Gives Me Hiccups’ in September, 2015. The book was critically praised by book critics.
Legendary Hollywood director and auteur Woody Allen is also a master of short fiction and has written short stories collection such as ‘Without Feathers’, ‘Side Effects’, ‘Getting Even’, and ‘Mere Anarchy’.
Comedy actor Steve Martin released the awesome book ‘Shopgirl’ released in 2000. He has followed up his debut effort with two more books- ‘The Pleasure of my Company’ and ‘An Object of Beauty’.
Big time Hollywood actor James Franco who studied fiction writing at Brooklyn College is also an author. His book ‘Palto Alto’ is a collection of stories he wrote while he was in Brooklyn College. His follow up effort is titled ‘Actors Anonymous’.
