A former aspirant for the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sunny Moniedafe, has expressed deep dissatisfaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating categorically that the president “is not doing well.”
Moniedafe made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Tuesday, where he also warned that the ruling party is facing serious internal crises that could lead to its collapse.
Commenting on recent calls by former members of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) for the vice-presidency to remain within their bloc ahead of the 2027 elections, Moniedafe said the agitation was understandable.

“I don’t blame them. They have a point. Everyone wants to protect their interests,” he said. “But I think we are heading for the rocks. And I’m sorry to say this, President Tinubu is not doing well.”
He condemned the lingering factional interests in the APC, referencing the continuing influence of legacy blocs such as the ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), despite the party being in power for nearly a decade.
The APC stalwart expressed concern that most of the party’s stakeholders have failed to rally behind or defend government policies, with many choosing to remain silent or lacking understanding of key national issues.
Moniedafe particularly faulted the president’s early hints at seeking re-election in 2027, suggesting that such moves were premature given the widespread public discontent with some of his policy decisions.
He also criticised the government’s approach to the removal of fuel subsidies, saying that its handling lacked sensitivity and preparation. Additionally, he raised concerns about the language used by the president when justifying the choice of Vice President Kashim Shettima, describing it as divisive and inappropriate.
“The president should have convened a forum of respected elders who would act as the conscience of the party,” Moniedafe said, insisting that internal democracy and honest evaluation must return to the APC if it is to survive the current turbulence.
His comments come amid rising dissatisfaction among party faithful and growing calls for reform within the APC as Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 general elections.
