Former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Salihu Lukman, has accused leading opposition figures of playing a significant role in Nigeria’s current political challenges.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Lukman argued that opposition leaders and politically displaced politicians, given their past influence and roles in previous administrations, should take a backseat to allow for the formation of a strong coalition to strengthen Nigerian politics.
He asserted that many of these politicians remain complicit in the country’s political travails and lack the credibility to position themselves as better alternatives.

“Given their records of service, they are most likely to be worse than former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, and now President Tinubu,” Lukman stated.
He further criticized their leadership style, describing them as intolerant and ineffective in managing political transitions, which has resulted in their loss of influence over political structures in their respective states.
“Some of them, on account of their influential roles in past administrations and the failures of those administrations, should be humble enough to step aside and contribute to building a strong political coalition.
Instead, it is more like an unrepentant show of shame,” he added.
