Chief Edwin Clark, former federal commissioner for information and South South leader, has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to set up a disciplinary committee to investigate alleged anti-party activities, particularly those attributed to former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and others.
Clark, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, accused Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, of being the PDP’s “greatest enemy,” alleging that he aims to destroy the party through manipulation.
Clark further advocated for the immediate dissolution of the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.

He suggested that following the NWC’s dissolution, an acting national chairman should be appointed in accordance with the party’s constitution, citing a precedent during the tenure of Prince Uche Secondus, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle.
The leader of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) also advised the party to revisit its online member registration initiated by former National Chairman Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo.
Clark expressed concern that certain members have exploited the system for personal gain, urging the party to prevent dependence on individuals.
Clark warned that the PDP could lose its status as the country’s second principal party if former Vice President and 2023 Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is chosen as the candidate for the 2027 elections.
Addressing potential criticism, Clark clarified that while he had retired from active partisan politics, he believed that as a “political animal,” he had a duty to speak on governance and political matters affecting the nation for as long as he remains physically and mentally capable.
