Babafemi Ojudu, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, accusing him of lacking honour and a proper understanding of politics.
Ojudu made the remarks during an interview on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, on Thursday morning.
Recalling the 2011 senatorial election in Ekiti State, Ojudu claimed he defeated Fayose despite the latter’s financial resources.

According to Ojudu, he secured 68,000 votes, while Fayose garnered 28,000 votes.
Allegations Against Fayose
Ojudu alleged that Fayose became governor after his impeachment through vote-buying, exploiting the poverty of the Ekiti people.
“Fayose has no honour; he is a man of dishonour. He became governor again because people were hungry. Vote for a pot of soup and N5,000, and everybody will vote in an environment of poverty,” Ojudu said.
He also recounted an incident during a debate organized by a radio station ahead of the senatorial election. According to Ojudu, Fayose wore a T-shirt with the inscription “Politics is Serious Business,” but the word “politics” was misspelled.
“I saw the misspelling and thought, ‘I have him today.’ I called my photographer to capture it,” Ojudu stated.
The ‘Killer Punch’
Ojudu claimed he used the error to deliver a devastating blow during the debate.
“After he accused me of all sorts of things, I told the audience, ‘Today is my saddest day.
How do I explain to my 13-year-old daughter that a former governor of Ekiti State, who now wants to represent us in the Senate, cannot spell the word ‘politics’?’”
He continued, “I called the audience’s attention to the inscription on his T-shirt. He just put his hands on his chest and ran out of the studio. That was the killer punch.”
Ojudu emphasized that his victory over Fayose was a testament to his political acumen and the trust of the Ekiti people, despite his opponent’s financial advantage.
