ABUJA (Federal Civil Service Commission Report) – The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Joan O. Ayo (Deaconess) on Monday October 27, 2014 described the recently concluded Directorate Level promotion exercise as a huge success.
Joan Ayo while speaking in a Press Conference held in Abuja stated that the success came through hard work and maintenance of the core values of the service – meritocracy, discipline, patriotism, accountability, loyalty, political neutrality, impartiality, anonymity, integrity, professionalism and transparency. According to her, extra and stringent measures were taken towards ensuring fraud-free, more comprehensive and reliable processes.
“These measures include: the introduction of biometric accreditation by the Department of State Services (DSS); printing of customized FCSC promotion answer sheets for the examination by DSS; invitation and the presence of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Civil Defense and the Department of State Services (DSS). Also inclusive was the engagement of recognized professional bodies such as ICAN, NIM along with retired and serving civil servants with integrity as resource persons to set and mark the professional questions. The FCSC Commissioners also set and marked the Civil Service and Current Affairs questions,” she explained.
According to her, three thousand, two hundred and seventy-three candidates participated in the 2014 Promotion / Evaluation Exercise as against 4,493 candidates in 2013. She opined that out of this number, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen candidates were successfully promoted as against two thousand, six hundred and seventy two in 2013. She further enjoined Civil Servants to update their knowledge in Information Communication Technology (ICT) as the Commission would soon commence the conduct of promotion examinations online.
While commending the Department of State Services for its support to the Commission during the promotion exercise, the Commission Chairman informed that the FCSC has already commenced online recruitment, stating that the 2014 Directorate Level Promotion result is already on the website with the address – www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng.
