The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, remains undeterred by protests against his policies, emphasizing his commitment to delivering President Bola Tinubu’s mandate.
Multiple demonstrations have taken place against Wike, particularly concerning his land allocation policies in the capital city.
Key FCT indigene, Adamu Matazu, criticized Wike’s actions, claiming they were detrimental to Abuja’s progress and growth.

In response to the protests, Wike dismissed them, asserting that the demonstrators were financially motivated. During the flag-off of remedial road work in the FCT on Thursday, Wike stated, “Frankly speaking, I don’t have the time to see that.
I was busy, and I don’t want to be distracted. I want to be focused and deliver on the mandate Mr. President has given us.”
Wike acknowledged the diversity of opinions in a democracy but stressed that opinions must align with the greater good for the people of the FCT.
Defending his decisions, he highlighted the necessity for firm and bold leadership, acknowledging that not all policies would be universally popular.
Addressing the dissenting voices, Wike remarked, “Those who benefit will kick against it.
But when you are focused and firm, they have no choice than to come back and align themselves with the policies of the government.”
Wike dismissed concerns about paid protesters, stating, “Nobody should be bothered that there are people who were paid — they have collected the money and everything ended yesterday.
We are used to all this, so nobody should be worried that people are demonstrating.”
He concluded by inviting scrutiny of the administration’s achievements in the preceding months, emphasizing the importance of decisions benefiting the people at large.
