The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has neutralized 16 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers while arresting 300 suspects for various criminal offenses within the last two months.
FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu disclosed this during a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, stating that the arrested suspects are currently undergoing profiling and screening.
He assured that those found culpable would be charged to court.

Breakdown of Arrests and Neutralizations
According to Disu, the arrests and neutralizations were achieved through special operations and raids conducted by operatives across the territory. He provided a breakdown of the arrests:
- 59 suspects were apprehended for armed robbery.
- 10 suspects were arrested for kidnapping and serving as informants.
- 16 suspects were linked to cultism.
- Nine armed robbery suspects were neutralized.
- Seven suspected kidnappers were neutralized.
The police chief emphasized that these operations were proactive measures aimed at disrupting criminal activities in known hotspots across the FCT.
Police Raid Notorious Criminal Hideouts
Disu revealed that the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out clearance operations in several bandit and kidnapper hideouts, particularly along key border areas.
He listed the targeted locations as follows:
- FCT–Kaduna border: Raids were conducted at Gidan-Dogo village and Kweri Forest.
- FCT–Niger border: Clearance operations took place in Gauraka Forest.
- FCT–Nasarawa border: Sardauna Forest was raided.
The commissioner reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, warning criminal elements to steer clear of the FCT or face the full wrath of the law.
