The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has commenced the promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants in the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this on Wednesday, stating that the exercise was approved by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to Ezeh, the promotion exercise began on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and will run for 10 days, with over 13,000 civil servants participating across 150 cadres and grade levels.
In a statement, the Commission said the exercise forms part of the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT Civil Servants for the year 2025.
“The exercise is expected to commence on July 1, 2026, for a period of 10 days.
“The Minister further directed the Commission to ensure that the 2026 promotion exercise is also conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers are given the opportunity to grow in the service. He directed the Commission to work with all relevant agencies of the FCTA to ensure a hitch-free exercise such that all issues which arose from the previous exercise do not repeat themselves,” the statement read.
Ezeh assured participants that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise.
He urged candidates to remain patient throughout the process and wished them success in the Computer-Based Test, CBT, promotion examination.
The Commission recalled that it became the first civil service commission in the country to conduct a promotion exercise using the CBT format in 2024, barely six months after its inauguration in March of that year.
