The Federal Government has called on governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to explain to Nigerians how they have utilized increased allocations for the benefit of their constituents.
This statement comes in response to recent remarks by the PDP governors, who urged the APC-led federal government to address the worsening economic hardship in the country.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information & National Orientation, the government emphasized that the nation’s economy remains strong, capable of meeting financial obligations both domestically and internationally.

Idris criticized the PDP governors for comparing Nigeria’s economic challenges to those of Venezuela, calling their actions mischievous and misleading.
He urged the governors to fulfill their obligations to workers, pensioners, and local contractors to alleviate economic pressures in their states.
The statement also highlighted that many states governed by the PDP have failed to pay salaries, pensions, and gratuities, and have not implemented the N30,000 minimum wage.
The Federal Government welcomed the call for a bipartisan approach to addressing the country’s economic and security challenges but cautioned against manipulating facts to misinform Nigerians about the country’s true state of affairs.
The government challenged the PDP governors to prioritize increasing food production in their states and fulfill their obligations to their citizens to demonstrate genuine concern for the welfare of Nigerians.
