Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared revelations about Buhari’s health during a critical period in his presidency.
In his book titled ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity 2015 – 2023,’ Adesina recounts a visit to Buhari in London in 2017.
During this visit, Buhari reportedly confessed to not being aware of his surroundings due to his illness.

Adesina also addressed criticisms at the time, stating that there were demands for him to declare the president incapacitated and unfit for office.
He defended the media aides’ actions, questioning the necessity of their involvement in medical matters.
Quoting Buhari during the London meeting, Adesina wrote, “At a point, I did not even know where I was. Serious. Very serious.”
Adesina then questioned the critics, asking if it was at such a critical time that media aides were needed, emphasizing that their role was not to diagnose or prescribe medical treatments.
‘Working with Buhari’ offers insights into Adesina’s experiences as a close aide to the president during a challenging period, shedding light on previously undisclosed aspects of Buhari’s health and the behind-the-scenes workings of his administration.
