The Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna has disclosed that the Federal Government is working assiduously to ensure that unemployment among the youths in Nigeria is reduced to the barest minimum under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mr. Haruna stated this when he received members of the Nigerian Women Pray for Democratic Success In Nigeria and Africa who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The Minister commended President Goodluck Jonathan for driving sustained concerted efforts through various existing programmes and interventions such as YouWin. He also added that aside from the varying programmes, the multi-sectoral approaches were intended to develop a youth economy which should ultimately contribute to overall national development.

The Minister further revealed that Government is determined that the youths should have access to funds in a very liberal manner in order to encourage them to develop their “entrepreneurial skills which is lacking in the labour market today.” This, he further disclosed would be through the vehicle of a bill which is being worked upon by the Ministry on the establishment of a National Youth Development Fund which would soon be taken to the National Assembly for enactment into law.
The Minister commended members of the Nigeria Women Prayer for Democratic Success for their initiative to identify with him and the success of democracy in Nigeria; stressing that the organization stands out as the first group to pay him a visit.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the association, Mrs. Kaka Ibrahim Bangalu said that the group was willing to partner with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development towards the realization of the transformation agenda for the millions of youths across the country. She also revealed that the group mobilizes both women and youth for the enthronement of credible election in Nigeria and Africa.
