FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center today launched the Handshake for Peace campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013.
This exciting joint initiative between FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center in Norway will combine the global reach and power of football with a simple handshake – a Handshake for Peace – that seeks to set an example of friendship, respect and peace to society. The handshake will form an integral part of FIFA events, giving a strong platform for this positive gesture of respect, friendship and fair play.
The Handshake for Peace will feature at all matches during the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013.
As an example of the expanded pre- and post-match protocol, opposing captains and referees will meet next to the centre circle to take part in the Handshake for Peace after matches at FIFA tournaments.
The Handshake for Peace supports the third pillar of FIFA’s mission – to build a better future through football. It will feature at all future tournaments, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.

The joint initiative brings to life a promise made between the two organisations at the 2012 FIFA Congress in Budapest.
