In a significant turn of events, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, a former House of Representatives aspirant in Oyo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that the party’s failure to secure victories in certain 2023 elections can be attributed to a dearth of transparency and internal democratic processes.
Akinola, who initially contested the House of Representatives primary in the Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, voiced this declaration during his rejoining of the APC on Friday.
Recent history reveals that Akinola had previously defected from the APC and contested the House of Representatives election on the Accord platform in 2023.

Addressing the media, Akinola expressed his belief that the APC could have emerged victorious in the state if internal divisions had not hampered the party’s unity.
He emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences, asserting that the party must unite its members to secure a return to power.
Akinola stated, “We have learnt the necessary lessons and experiences that would further sharpen our knowledge of politics.
We now know that there should be thorough and transparent internal democracy that will brighten the party’s chances at the polls.”
This development highlights the challenges within the APC and the ongoing efforts to address internal issues for future electoral success.
