A forum of former lawmakers from the 7th National Assembly under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to address what they described as the continued marginalisation of the CPC bloc within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The call was made during a press conference held on Wednesday in Abuja by members of the CPC Forum, which includes Senator Ibrahim Musa, Hon. Sanusi Aliyu, Hon. Mohammed Tukur, Senator Ahmed Sani, Hon. Ibrahim Chachangi, Hon. Yusuf Bala, and APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Hon. Garuba Datti.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Aliyu Gebi, a former House of Representatives member, lamented that despite the CPC’s instrumental role in the formation of the APC, its members have been sidelined.

“We cannot sit here and pretend marginalisations do not exist. We were thrown out of a vehicle we created.
Our supporters — the 12 million votes we can consistently mobilise — are being disenfranchised due to the continued neglect of our bloc,” Gebi stated.
He said while CPC members remain loyal to the APC, the party has failed to reward their sacrifices, accusing political “usurpers” of hijacking the party.
Earlier, Forum Chairman, Hon. Basiru Ila, reaffirmed former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, as the rightful leader of the CPC bloc in the APC, dismissing any claims by former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
He urged CPC supporters across Northern Nigeria and beyond to ignore any unauthorised representations made in the bloc’s name.
Ila added: “As the only governor ever produced by the CPC, Senator Al-Makura remains our leader. This forum will work with him to ensure the APC delivers on the aspirations that inspired the merger.”
