The Forum of Former Deputy Governors has requested membership on the All Progressives Congress’s National Executive Committee.
They made the request during a solidarity trip to the party headquarters in Abuja, where they met with National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Chris Akomas, the forum’s chairman and a former deputy governor of Abia State, said that the party’s top decision-making organ may benefit from the knowledge and competence of previous deputy governors.

Akomas, the Federal Commissioner for Abia State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission Abuja, says the forum is set up so that participants understand they are surrounded by politicians who share their commitment to the country’s harmony, prosperity, and stability.
The group expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing some forum members to positions in his administration.
In response, Ganduje said that the deputy governor’s role and importance cannot be overstated despite being the most contentious in the politics of the country.
The former governor of Kano State blamed sycophants in the halls of power for most of the tension between governors and their subordinates.
