Chief Patrick Ogbu, former Chairman of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), has announced his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.
He made this declaration on Friday at his residence in Makurdi, the state capital.
A longstanding member of the PDP, Chief Ogbu emphasized his commitment and passion for the party’s success, stating that he is ready to leverage his energy to transform it.

He presented himself as a capable candidate to reposition the party in the state, highlighting the need for strong and capable leadership to address challenges and embrace opportunities.
Chief Ogbu stated, “I possess the necessary qualities to galvanize our party, combining my experience, expertise, and unyielding dedication. Together we can mobilize, inspire, and effect positive change within our ranks and beyond.”
His candidacy received support from various party members, including former PDP governorship aspirant Julius Atorough, who described Chief Ogbu as hardworking.
Additionally, Hon. Godwin Onwue, Chairman of Igumale Ward, and Rose Ameh, the State Assistant Secretary of the party, expressed their support for Chief Ogbu’s aspiration.
Dr. Sebastian Agbinda, a former Special Adviser, also commended Chief Ogbu’s record, stating that while he respects all aspirants, Chief Ogbu’s leadership stands out.
