Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent has insisted Ligue 1 is “nothing” without the Paris Saint-Germain forward among its ranks.
The Sweden international has rewritten the record books at the Parisian club since joining from AC Milan in 2012, most recently becoming PSG’s all-time leading scorer in Ligue 1 and also in continental competitions.
Following his move to Paris, PSG have won each of the past three Ligue 1 titles and are in strong position to collect a fourth this season, sitting 17 points clear atop the league table.
Speaking to France’s RMC on Wednesday, Mino Raiola said his client has been a “gift” to French football, and promised the league will feel his absence once Ibrahimovic’s time in France is up.
“The French league without Zlatan is nothing. PSG gave French football a gift with Zlatan,” Raiola said on Wednesday.
“When he chose Paris, it was a difficult choice. Everyone talks about [Cristiano] Ronaldo or [Lionel] Messi today. But they forget one thing: Zlatan has put Paris on the footballing map. The French have to get used to players of a high level. With Zlatan, they’ve learned after three years. PSG without Zlatan is like Formula One without Ferrari. It’s like champagne without bubbles.
“Zlatan will surprise us again in the coming months. He’s a champion, he’s always at the top.”
