A former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betraying the people of the state.
Ewor made the allegation while speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, where he claimed that the governor has not been open, transparent or communicative with Rivers residents.
According to him, Fubara had created the impression that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was preventing him from carrying out his responsibilities as governor.
“It’s Fubara himself who betrayed the people of Rivers. If Fubara had been open, transparent, and communicated with the people of Rivers, I don’t think the women would have taken to the streets,” Ewor said.
He added that many political leaders in the state, including himself, supported Fubara because they believed Wike was obstructing his administration.
“I don’t think our leaders would have given him the level of support they did, including myself.
“I said several unprintable words against the FCT Minister believing that he was stopping Fubara from doing his work, but at the end of the day, we discovered that it wasn’t so,” he stated.
Ewor further alleged that the governor has continued to keep his political position unclear to the people of Rivers State.
“Fubara is not open; up till now he is still not open. If he tells Rivers people this is where I stand, they won’t take all the risk they have taken,” he said.
The former PDP acting chairman also welcomed Fubara’s recent alignment with the Rainbow Coalition, the political alliance associated with Wike.
“I thank God that he has led Rivers people back to the Rainbow Coalition,” Ewor added.
