Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged his supporters and residents of the state to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his timely intervention in the state’s prolonged political crisis.
Fubara made the appeal during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement on Thursday, as part of activities marking his two years in office.
His remarks were conveyed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

The governor revealed that the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts—aimed at restoring stability in the state’s executive and legislative arms—are progressing steadily.
“I want to assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will return to your offices, not just in the Executive arm, but also the Legislative arm,” Fubara said.
He expressed optimism that former relationships within the political structure would be restored, enabling both arms of government to work together once again for the benefit of Rivers people.
“What is important is for us to have a forgiving spirit,” he added.
Fubara commended President Tinubu for stepping in to prevent what he described as a looming breakdown of law and order.
“We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention in salvaging the situation and stabilising the polity and the state. If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different,” he said.
The governor noted that President Tinubu’s wisdom and decisive action came at a critical time, preventing the crisis from spiraling out of control.
“I don’t know how he gets his information, but the truth is that he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank,” he stressed.
Fubara also acknowledged the contributions of national figures who appealed to the president to intervene, adding that the current priority must be peace and the progress of Rivers State.
“We have to come down from our high horses and commit ourselves to the peace process. And that is what we are doing.
What is important is for the state to move forward. It is not about you; the interest of the state is paramount,” he concluded.
