Over three million Nigerians who live inside the territory’s six area councils have been given the first of 12,000 bags of rice and corn that will be distributed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced on Monday during the distribution event in the Kwali Area Council that each council will receive 2,000 bags of rice and corn.
The ceremony was held in honor of the FCT Minister.

Wike, who was represented by Bitrus Garki, the Mandate Secretary of the Area Council Secretariat of the FCTA, indicated that the activity was a continuation of the continuous distribution of palliatives to residents of the nation’s capital who were in a vulnerable position.
He stated that the FCTA has already dispersed some of the food supplies to a variety of organizations over the course of the previous two weeks.
“This includes various groups such as Area Councils, representatives of 17 Chiefdoms, religious organizations, civil servants, and vulnerable groups.”
“The feedback we received from that exercise was extremely encouraging, which is why we are expanding the distribution today,” he added. “The feedback we received from that exercise was extremely encouraging.”
According to the Minister, the purpose of the exercise was to align with the mission of renewed hope that is being pursued by the administration that is now being led by President Bola Tinubu.
He stated that the administration’s goal is to inspire optimism in all Nigerians for a better tomorrow.
“During this phase of distribution, we are bringing the items closer to the people, ensuring direct outreach to the vulnerable groups,” he added. This phase of distribution is taking place simultaneously in all six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
