The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, has successfully extradited a Nigerian fugitive, Abubakar Aboki Muhammed, from the United Arab Emirates over charges of fraud, forgery, and money laundering.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, stating that Muhammed was subjected to an INTERPOL Red Notice following an in-depth investigation into a case involving obtaining money by false pretence, forgery, and laundering of criminal proceeds.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed in July 2023 by an Abuja-based international businessman who accused Muhammed of defrauding him under the pretense of being a shipping agent.

According to police findings, Muhammed allegedly misrepresented himself to secure a contract to facilitate the payment and freight of ten high-end vehicles worth $307,500 from the UAE to Nigeria through registered shipping companies.
The suspect was said to have received the full payment via a third-party account at First City Monument Bank (FCMB), owned by one Anas Usaini of Kano State, which was later linked to money laundering activities in Dubai.
After receiving the payment, Muhammed reportedly issued the complainant a forged bill of lading and became unreachable.
He was eventually arrested by authorities in Dubai on April 15, 2025, and has since been extradited to Nigeria, where he will face prosecution at the Federal High Court.
The Nigeria Police expressed appreciation to the Dubai Police, INTERPOL NCB Abu Dhabi, and the Nigerian Consulate General in Dubai for their collaboration in facilitating the extradition process.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law through international cooperation and diligent investigation,” the statement concluded.
