Famous Nigerian actress-turned-politician, Funke Akindele, has declared her intention to make another foray into politics following her earlier unsuccessful attempt.
InfoStride News recalls that Akindele was the running mate to Abdulazeez Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State during the 2023 general elections.
The duo lost the election to incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

After the defeat, Akindele wiped her social media platforms clean of all politically-related posts, maintaining silence on political matters — until now.
Speaking during the inaugural live edition of the ‘WithChude’ podcast, the actress broke her silence and confirmed her plans to return to active politics.
“I need to support. I need to give back. That’s why I went into politics,” she said. “Getting into it, seeing violence, and shouting, then I started watching female politicians like Mummy Abike Dabiri and co — the way they speak and command respect and authority. I’m like, you too go, you can do it.”
She added, “I learnt that you have to be bold, courageous, and strong. Fear will only put you in a place. I got educated more and acquired more knowledge. I’m reading more and knowing more about my country and my state.
When I want to speak, I speak with statistics and data. So, I’m glad that I went into politics. And ask me if I am going to do it again? Oh, yes.”
Akindele’s remarks have stirred fresh interest in her political journey, hinting at a possible return to the field in future elections.
