Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed the call for his arrest by the state government, describing it as unfounded and irresponsible.
Ganduje made this known in a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu.
According to the former governor, the demand exposed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s inability to tackle the worsening security crisis in the state.

“It is deeply unfortunate that rather than addressing the escalating insecurity ravaging the state, Governor Yusuf has chosen to chase shadows while searching for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures,” Ganduje said.
He noted that communities in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa, and Tsanyawa Local Government areas have been hit by repeated attacks, stressing that the governor has not visited the affected areas nor extended sympathy to victims.
“His continued absence in moments that require leadership speaks volumes of his disconnect from the people he claims to serve,” the statement partly read.
Ganduje also insisted he has never been linked to violence or actions capable of threatening the peace and stability of Kano, adding that the allegation was a deliberate plot to mislead the public and distract citizens from governance failures.
He urged Governor Yusuf to concentrate on his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property instead of engaging in political theatrics.
InfoStride News recalls that on Friday, the Kano State Government had called for the immediate arrest of Ganduje, accusing him of making inciting statements and attempting to form an illegal militia group—an allegation the former APC chairman strongly rejected.
