The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, citing concerns over the government’s indifference and insensitivity towards the struggles of Nigerians.
In an open letter titled “President Bola Tinubu, Time is Going,” Adams expressed his discontent with the current state of the nation, highlighting the unfulfilled expectations of many who had placed their hopes in Tinubu’s leadership.
In his letter, Adams lamented the severe economic hardship that has plagued Nigeria under Tinubu’s government.

He criticised the administration for its failure to address key issues such as the soaring cost of living and the alarming level of insecurity.
According to Adams, the drastic increase in fuel prices—from less than N200 to over N1000 per litre—has placed an unbearable burden on the average Nigerian, exacerbating the already difficult economic conditions.
Additionally, he pointed out the significant depreciation of the Naira, which has fallen from less than N740 to over N1,600 per dollar, reflecting what he describes as poor economic management.
Adams also expressed grave concerns about the handling of security issues in the country.
Despite the presence of security chiefs and ongoing efforts, the rate of abductions, killings, and other violent crimes has continued to rise.
This, according to Adams, calls into question the effectiveness of the security briefings received by the President from his team.
He further criticised the government for its apparent disregard for the safety and welfare of its citizens, noting that the actions of security forces often appear to be more focused on harassing human rights activists and civil society organisations rather than addressing the root causes of insecurity.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo did not shy away from reminding President Tinubu of his campaign promises, urging him to take immediate and decisive action to reverse the current trend of hardship and oppression that has become prevalent in the country.
Adams emphasised that the administration’s inability to fulfil its promises has led to widespread disillusionment among Nigerians, many of whom had hoped for a more prosperous and secure future under Tinubu’s leadership.
Adams warned of the potential consequences if these issues are not addressed promptly.
He suggested that the ongoing economic and security challenges could trigger further crises, potentially leading to increased unrest and instability across the nation.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo’s letter serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for the government to prioritise the well-being of its citizens and to take tangible steps towards improving the current situation.
In his closing remarks, Adams appealed to President Tinubu to demonstrate true leadership by being responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
He called on the President to engage with experts and stakeholders to develop and implement policies that will alleviate the economic burdens faced by the people and restore confidence in the nation’s security apparatus.
Adams stressed that time is of the essence, and that failure to act decisively could have far-reaching consequences for the country’s stability and progress.
Adams’ open letter reflects the growing frustration among many Nigerians who feel let down by the Tinubu administration.
As the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Adams’ voice carries significant weight, and his critique underscores the deep-rooted concerns that many citizens share regarding the direction in which the country is headed.
The call for immediate action and accountability serves as a rallying cry for the government to live up to its promises and to work towards a Nigeria that is safe, prosperous, and equitable for all.
