Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique appeared to continue their long-running feud after the Real Madrid defender was sent-off for the 22nd time in his career.
Ramos was given his marching orders after a cynical two-footed challenge on Lionel Messi which left Alejandro Hernandez with no option but to brandish the red card.
Pique and Ramos have been locked in a war of words for some time and their feud came to the fore again earlier this week following Real Madrid’s controversial Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich.
Zinedie Zidane’s side scored two offside goals as they progressed to the last four of the competition for the seventh year in a row, prompting Pique to post a cryptic tweet.
Ramos responded by saying: ‘[It is] nothing new. I’m not surprised.
‘He should rewind and look back to the PSG game and see if he thinks the same about the referees.’
And Pique appeared to enjoy sending Ramos on his way, offering some choice words of advice, after he nearly chopped Messi in half with the a reckless tackle.
As he walked off, Ramos noticed Pique and began to make a talking motion with his hand, with cameras capturing Ramos saying, ‘Talk now. Talk now.’
Both the former Manchester United defender and Messi has the last laugh, when the Argentine forward struck an injury time winner which sent Barcelona top of La Liga, albeit having played a game more.
