The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has severed tied with head coach James Kwesi Appiah after both parties agreed to part ways mutually.
The decision come barely 48-hours after Appiah guided the Black Stars to a 3-2 win over neighbouring Togo in Lome in the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifier.
But his fate had been in a balance following the Black Stars poor showing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where the team churned out their worst outing, failing to win a game and bowing out at the group phase.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah have agreed to mutually part ways.
“The two parties met on Friday morning to reach the agreement on the departure of Mr. Appiah,” the GFA said in a statement on its website.
Appiah, a former national skipper made history by becoming the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars to the World Cup in Brazil few months ago.
He was named head coach in April 2012 after his former boss, Goran Stevanovic left the post. Months later, he steered Ghana to fourth place at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
