
Ghana and Nigeria boosted their preparations for the 2014 Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) with victories in warm-up games.
Ghana’s Black Stars, camping in Namibia beat their hosts 1-0 in Windhoek whilst the Super Eagles confirmed their dominance over Ethiopia by beating them 2-1 in Abuja, both on Saturday (January 4).
Offensive midfielder Sulley Mohammed scored the only for the Ghanaians as they wrapped-up their training camp in Namibia.
Ghana, one of three teams to have qualified for every edition of the CHAN tournament since its inception are scheduled to arrive in South Africa on Sunday, January 5, for the championship.
The local Black Stars are housed in the Mangaung-based Group C with Congo, Ethiopia and Libya.
Elsewhere in Abuja, Enyimba forward Ifeanyi Ede and Ugonna Uzochukwu gave the Super Eagles a 2-0 lead at half time before Oumed Oukri grabbed a consolation for the Walya Antelopes after the interval.
Nigeria, debuting at the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues, just as Ethiopia, are expected in South Africa on Tuesday, January 8. They are in Group A with hosts South Africa, Mali and Mozambique.
The tournament will be held from 11 January to 1 February, 2014.
