The government of Ogun State has reaffirmed its intention to push on with the use of digital technology as the primary driver of the state’s plan for future growth.
According to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, this would be accomplished by paving the way for the discovery of technological skills among young people, as well as by cultivating and developing those talents, in order to put Ogun on the map of global advancements in the digital world.
Abiodun emphasized this point as he opened the 2023 Ogun Tech Summit with his opening remarks, which were titled, “Disruptive Innovation: Digital Technology for Sharing the Future.”
According to InfoStride News, the two-day event that took place in Abeokuta saw the participation of a variety of individuals in the technology industry, including disruptors, creators, inventors, start-ups, and technology lovers.
The governor has been quoted as saying that “Ogun is working towards becoming Nigeria’s Silicon valley by giving support to technology-driven professionals across the State.”
Abiodun stated that his administration would also make use of information and communication technology (ICT) projects in order to entice a greater number of investors to place their money in the State.
The governor, who was not there but was represented by the Special Adviser on ICT, Dayo Abiodun, stated that “Ogun State has embraced Information Technology through the creation of Ogun TechHub that has helped to identify the best brains in ICT.” Dayo Abiodun was the person who made the disclosure.
According to him, the TechHub has developed into “a platform to harness the IT knowledge of youths, as well as other initiatives such as learners’ certificate numbers, digital curriculum, and infrastructure in the education sector, all of which are now done digitally.”
Prior to this, Ayoola Olaniyi, the convener of the Tech Summit, stated that the event was put together five years ago with the intention of ensuring that Ogun State takes the front row in the hunt for digital and technological talents and also to chart a new route for growth that is in line with the finest global practices.
