Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State was named by the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) to lead the party’s Bayelsa State National Campaign Council.
The appointment was announced in a statement released to the press on Sunday in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba, by Yusuf Sanda, the state governor’s chief press secretary.
The statement claims that Kefas will head the 122-person team to the state before the governor’s race on November 11.
The statement claims that the move is an effort to rally voters behind Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State in the upcoming governorship election.
Dr. Agbu Kefas’s “stellar leadership qualities and democratic credentials” have been “applauded at home and abroad,” the statement proclaimed, justifying his promotion to the position.
The announcement claims that the Campaign Council’s formal induction will take place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on August 2, 2023.
The upcoming Bayelsa governorship election will feature Governor Diri running under the PDP banner and main opposition candidate Timipre Sylva running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
