On Saturday, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia spoke out against the killing of Justice Margaret Igbetar, a former President of the Customary Court of Appeal.
According to Infostride News’ archives, Igbetar was discovered dead in her Makurdi home on Thursday by her son. She had been murdered earlier in the week by unknown intruders.
Alia responded with concern, expressing it in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula.
The governor was perplexed as to the motive behind the brutal murder of a citizen who had done her part in the growth of the state in numerous roles to guarantee the safety of all citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
Fr. Alia, who said the episode still shocked him, ordered state security forces to move swiftly to locate and prosecute those responsible.
He prayed for Justice Igbetar’s soul and said that her death was a tragedy for everyone involved in the legal system, the state, and the world.
