Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State, has cautioned the newly sworn-in caretaker chairmen across the state’s 21 local government areas to fulfill their responsibilities without fail.
During the swearing-in ceremony held in Lokoja on Tuesday, Governor Bello emphasized the need for the chairmen to align their actions with the party’s objectives for the benefit of the people.
He urged them to engage with all segments of society and assured them that business would not proceed as usual.

Governor Bello stressed that the groundwork had been laid for the caretaker chairmen to excel in their roles, emphasizing the importance of delivering results for the people of Kogi State.
He reminded the leaders that their appointments were not for leisure but to tackle the challenge of fostering development at the grassroots level.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bello highlighted the experience of many of the newly appointed leaders, noting that they were familiar with areas requiring improvement to enhance governance in their respective local government areas.
He cautioned the chairmen against complacency, emphasizing that their positions required a commitment to advancing the state’s development agenda.
Governor Bello urged them to prioritize unity and peace, steering clear of actions that could stoke tribal or political tensions.
In response, Abdullahi Adamu, the caretaker chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, assured the governor of their dedication to their duties and the party’s initiatives.
He pledged to uphold the trust placed in them by the current administration.
Salami Ozigi, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, commended the governor for the well-deserved appointments and urged the chairmen to prioritize the safety and welfare of their local communities.
He encouraged them to demonstrate diligence and loyalty while ensuring inclusive governance.
Governor Bello’s appointments of the caretaker chairmen come after the expiration of the previous local government chairmen’s tenure in December.
The governor’s firm stance underscores the expectations placed on the newly appointed caretaker chairmen to drive development and serve the people of Kogi State diligently.
