Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all road projects inherited from previous administrations, alongside those initiated under his leadership.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, at a press conference held at the NUJ Press Center in Uyo, Eno emphasized the administration’s dedication to infrastructural development.
He revealed that over N208.16 billion has been allocated to road projects and other infrastructure since his administration assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Ibanga, flanked by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, and the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Prince Ikim, provided a breakdown of the spending.
According to him, N47.93 billion has been spent on 36 projects inherited from the Finance and General Purpose Committee, while another N4.04 billion was used for emergency interventions on projects left by the previous administration, totaling N51.96 billion.
Additionally, the administration has injected N151.96 billion into 61 new projects under the ARISE Agenda, which were initiated by the current government.
Ibanga stated, “We reiterate the firm and sincere commitment by the administration of Pastor Umo Eno to complete the road infrastructure projects inherited from previous administrations, as well as the ones initiated by his administration. For both categories, a total of N208.16 billion has been spent as of October 18, 2024.”
Addressing concerns over the slow progress of the Tabernacle Road project, the Commissioner attributed the delays to continuous rainfall.
He assured that the project would be completed by January 2025, noting that the most challenging aspect—excavation at a depth of 11 meters—had already been addressed.
The Commissioner also warned residents against constructing structures on waterways, drainage systems, or rights of way, as such activities could exacerbate flooding.
He further advised against adding unauthorized features like speed breakers on the roads, which could lead to early damage. He urged residents to approach the Ministry of Works for any such requests.
