Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that political adversaries are targeting his key supporters, including traditional rulers and government officials, in efforts to destabilize his administration.
Fubara made the accusations on Friday during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
He specifically cited the arrest and four-month detention of His Royal Majesty, Eze Ekpeye Logbo Kevin Anugbom, and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi, attributing their ordeal to their loyalty to his administration.

The governor also criticized the Nigerian Police Force for declaring his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, wanted, claiming it was a ploy to undermine his influence as governor.
Fubara urged residents of Rivers State to pray for his administration and for sufficient resources to complete ongoing projects.
He reassured the people of his dedication to governance despite the current challenges.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by Eze Ekpeye Logbo, the governor announced plans to upgrade traditional stools in the area.
He also revealed that contracts for internal roads in Ahoada East, previously awarded, would be revoked and re-awarded to ensure proper execution.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Ahoada for their support, Fubara advised them to avoid actions that could provoke hostility from political opponents.
The detention of Eze Ekpeye Logbo and High Chief Ikebidi followed the murder of the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada East, Superintendent of Police Bako Angbashim, in September 2023.
Additionally, Edison Ehie and others were declared wanted by the Police in connection with an explosion at the Rivers State House of Assembly on October 29, 2023.
