Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take decisive steps to strengthen both the party and Nigeria.
He made this assertion on Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of the Board of Governors and the unveiling of the Roadmap for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI).
The PDI, established in 2000, serves as the PDP’s research and training arm, aiming to foster a new democratic culture in Nigeria and Africa through educational and capacity-building initiatives.
Makinde emphasized that by fixing the PDP, the party would be well-positioned to “fix Nigeria” and restore hope for its people.
“As we approach 2027, it is clear that the PDP must offer real hope for Nigeria.
By revitalizing the PDI, we are laying the groundwork to deliver that hope,” he said, adding that the PDP aims to provide the ideological foundation the country needs.
With the board’s inauguration, Makinde said the PDP was now closer to defining its core ideology and guiding principles.
He also urged party members and leaders to reflect on the legacies they wish to leave behind, highlighting the importance of dedicated service and a unified vision for Nigeria.
Governor Makinde reiterated his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and the PDP, underscoring the role of leadership and vision in shaping the nation’s future.
