The attack in the Heipang community of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area early on Thursday morning was brutal and has been strongly condemned by Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.
The governor has spoken out against the recent attacks on several communities in the Mangu Local Government Area, where many lives were lost, according to a statement released by Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
Mangu and Barkin-Ladi local government districts have been plagued by a spate of needless killings, and Governor Mutfwang has called on security forces to redouble their efforts to put an end to it.
He deplored the worsening security situation in some sections of the state and urged closer coordination between local authorities and the state’s security apparatus to stop the “senseless” violence.
For the sake of stability, progress, and expansion, Governor Mutfwang emphasised the significance of religious and ethnic harmony among all inhabitants.
While expressing compassion for the impacted communities and families of the deceased, he assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing the issues.
He prayed for the people of Heipang and Mangu, and he advised them to use the security and information centre launched by the state government to share security information and facilitate rapid response in the event of similar attacks.
