Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has appointed three Special Assistants as acting commissioners to oversee key ministries following the recent dismissal and suspension of some commissioners in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpo, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday in Abakaliki.
According to the statement, Franklin Ukah, the Special Assistant on Water Resources, will now oversee the Ministry of Water Resources, while Patrick Enyi, the Special Assistant on Housing and Urban Development, has been assigned to head the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in an acting capacity.
Additionally, Dr. Sabinus Nwibo, the Special Assistant on Primary Health, has been directed to take charge of the State Ministry of Health as acting commissioner.
The suspended commissioners—Chinedu Nkah (Water Resources), Engr. Francis Ori (Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Moses Ekuma (Health)—were sanctioned for alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duties in their respective ministries.
Governor Nwifuru instructed the new acting commissioners to assume their roles immediately to ensure the smooth functioning of the affected ministries.
