On Tuesday, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State pleaded with former gubernatorial candidate and Peoples Democratic Party member Senator Obinna Ogba to switch parties and join the APC.
At the launching of LEGACY FM and Television, which was built by the former senator, Ogba, who represented Ebonyi Central senatorial zone in the 8th and 9th National Assembly, Nwifuru made this announcement while addressing stakeholders of the State.
He said, “You should announce to us here that you are joining our Party, APC, to confirm what we have been seeing on the social media, but I don’t want what surprised you to surprise me as well.”

I’m still holding out hope that this kind of declaration will come from you in one of your speeches at the launch.
Along with Oliver Osi and Ali Okechukwu, the Governor also convinced former deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly Obasi Odefa to switch parties and join the APC.
When you find a product you like, buy it. I support the Ogba product because it benefits the APC and because I am the leader of the APC. He said, “Anyone who is close to Ogba and will advise him (Ogba) not to join us should reevaluate their position.”
Nwifuru went on to praise Senator Ogba for the overwhelming support and contributions he received during the 2023 general election, which ultimately led to his win and his appointment as governor of Ebonyi State.
Senator Ogba praised the Governor for accepting his invitation and launching the radio station in a statement.
The courtship that led them to the APC is a tale for another time. It’s all in a day’s work for a politician, and he’s pressuring me to come. He was the speaker for eight years, so he knew all about the importance of lobbying in politics.
