Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has terminated the appointment of the State Commissioners, retaining only two.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), special advisers and senior special assistants were also sacked.
He retained his Chief of Staff, Sunny Nwakodo, the Commissioner for Finance, Obinna Oriaku, and the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Umeh Kalu (SAN).
This was disclosed in a statement signed and posted on the state government’s official website by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Onyii Wamah.
No reason was given for the sack of the commissioners and other officials.
The dissolution came after the commissioners took turns to present their scorecards at a forum attended by the governor between May 28 and May 29.
The statement also announced the appointment of three special advisers to the Governor, including the former Commissioner for Works, Ezuiche Ubani, who is now appointed as special adviser on works and project monitoring.
Other appointees are Emma Nwabuko and Solomon Ogunji, as special adviser/personal secretary to the Governor and special adviser on urban renewal, respectively.
