Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has affirmed his commitment to the state’s development amidst speculations about the 2026 governorship race.
He emphasized that his priority is the progress of Ekiti State rather than political ambitions.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 2024 Week of Prayer organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in conjunction with the Ekiti State Government, Governor Oyebanji announced plans to commence the construction of a 1.2-kilometer flyover between Okeyinmi and Ijigbo roundabouts in Ado Ekiti.

The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the city’s appearance.
During the intercessional program, prayers were offered for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic policies and the country’s security and progress.
The Governor’s administration was also rededicated to God for guidance and leadership.
Addressing the congregation, Governor Oyebanji expressed his determination to focus on leading Ekiti to prosperity, stating, “For now, 2026 is the least of my worries.
What I am really bothered about is leading Ekiti to prosperity, and allowing God to guide us.”
He attributed the ease of governance to prayer and faith in God, emphasizing that his administration’s priority has been the welfare of the people.
He also highlighted upcoming infrastructure projects, including the flyover construction, as evidence of God’s provision and guidance.
In his exhortation, the CAN Chairman in Ekiti urged Nigerians to embrace justice and fair play, while the National Leader of Intercessor for Nigeria encouraged Governor Oyebanji to maintain a focus on righteousness, honesty, integrity, unity, peace, and prosperity.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, Head of Service, Engr. Sunday Akomolafe, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chairman of the Council of Ekiti State Traditional Rulers, Oba Ilori Faboro, royal fathers, priests, and civil servants.
