Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has approved the establishment of a 27-member committee to enforce a ban on hoarding of food items and rent-seeking in the state.
This decision comes following the recent outlawing of hoarding of food items and other essential commodities in the state.
The committee, chaired by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Jabiru Tsauri, will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with the Food Security Promotion Order in the state.

It will also identify individuals engaged in hoarding grains and engage stakeholders in commodity pricing.
Members of the committee include the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, Fadila Dikko; Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Zango; and Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Danmusa, among others.
Representatives from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, paramilitary organisations, community and religious leaders, and grains sellers/dealers’ association will also be part of the committee.
The committee is set to be inaugurated by the governor on February 21, with a mandate to arrest and prosecute those found to be involved in hoarding.
