In a candid admission, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has acknowledged errors in the reported figures of government spending, emphasizing his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency and responsible governance.
The governor made these remarks at the inauguration of the Lagos State Building Control Agency Building in Ikeja, where he responded to the procurement record scrutinized by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.
Addressing concerns raised in an open letter by Funso Doherty, the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, Governor Sanwo-Olu affirmed that his government will persist in publishing its spending details despite facing criticism.

He reassured the public that his administration remains dedicated, responsible, and transparent in its operations.
“We appreciate criticism. We appreciate the fact that people can look us in the face [and tell us] that we need to do well in the state,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.
“To be a government that is firm and responsible, we should not shy away from criticism.”
However, the governor also cautioned against malicious criticisms intended to misrepresent the truth, citing instances where mistakes in reported figures were genuine errors rather than deliberate misinformation.
He expressed confidence in leading a team of dedicated public officials who are committed to rectifying errors and maintaining accountability in the public domain.
