Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has responded strongly to accusations made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, claiming that Fubara rents crowds for thanksgiving events.
Governor Fubara criticized Wike’s comments, expressing regret for supporting Fubara’s gubernatorial bid.
Wike’s remarks were made during a public address to supporters, where he alleged that Fubara’s ascension to the governorship was based on deceptive tactics.
Despite a peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu, the animosity between Wike and Fubara continues unabated.
In a recent address at the Government House, Port Harcourt, while receiving members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on a solidarity rally, Governor Fubara defended himself, citing the substantial turnout of supporters as evidence of the genuine support for his administration.
Fubara refuted Wike’s accusations, stating, “Some days ago, somebody said we are busy renting crowds for thanksgiving.
But what I have seen here today is not different from what is happening at those thanksgiving rallies.
People are just appreciating God and good governance.” This assertion implies that the turnout at the rally was organic and not orchestrated as alleged by Wike.
